My sister-in-law Sarah flew from Texas to Phoenix with her baby, James. Her Mom was then driving her on to Page to spend a couple weeks before her brother leaves on his mission. I got to spend a couple hours with them while they were in the valley! This was my first time meeting my new nephew! He is the sweetest, chunkiest, most adorable thing ever!
Grayce and James are close in size, as James is measuring very big for his age, and Grayce small. I got to hold them both and imagine what having twins might be like :)
My Dads cousin Amy Harries has a son the same age as Reese,
with the same first name. Amy and her husband Morgan spend their winters in Tuscon, but they drove to Phoenix for the day so that our boys could have a play-date! We went to a fun Train park and the boys loved it! The two Reese's took a liking to each other right away and became fast friends!
If Amy is my second cousin, I'm thinking they are third cousins?
Amy gave me this adorable outfit as a baby gift for Grayce.
It fits her perfect and I absolutely love it!
She also shared this picture of our Grandmother (My great-grandma Aileen Harries) swinging with her tongue out, and I love it!
Reese has been asking to go to Lego-land for a couple of years now.
He
got a coupon in a happy meal or somewhere and he would bring it to us
and say, "Mom I want to go der. Pleeeeaaase?! It's super fun place Mom!"
That
coupon was his prized possession. He would say "Need keep it safe Mom!"
and would check to make sure the corners weren't bent and there were no
wrinkles in it -then he would go tuck it back in his desk drawer.
When
we first loaded up the SUV to head out -Grayce was super fussy and we
decided to scrap the whole trip. Reese bawled when he thought we
weren't going -it was the saddest thing! Luckily the hotel rooms Edward
booked charged a hefty cancellation fee -so we left late that night
while all the kids slept (Edward works nights now -so he'd slept all
day/was rested). It was a wonderful trip and so nice to get away
together!
At night the boys slept on the hida-bed (Grayce slept
with me -I just inserted her for the pic). While the boys took a bath I
turned the bed back into a couch. When Reese came out he looked up at
me and said, "Dat a transformer robot couch Mom?"
In
the evening to wear the boys out for bed (they were super excited the
whole trip -and had an exorbitant amount of energy) I took them down to
the hotel exercise room and let them run on the treadmills. This was
Hayden's favorite thing. He would tug on my shirt and say, "Mom, I need
go essercize more."
Sweet boy climbed in his sister's crib to feed her her bottle
Feeding his sister some of his pretend grocery foods.
She's teething so she loves gnawing on anything these days.
After the first month or two following Grayce's arrival, Hayden flipped a switch and the fits of jealousy stopped. He is very understanding now when I need to nurse her or get her to sleep, and will generally leave me in peace to do so. He actually even "encourages" me to tend to her, saying "Mom -baby sisser want your white milk -you need feed her" or "Baby sisser want you pick her up Mom -she not happy -you need go get her now." And he is so good at making her laugh, he makes these crazy noises and faces that I can only describe as Dorey's whale talk on the movie "Finding Nemo". He loves to hold her and is so very loving to her, it makes me so happy.
Hayden had thrown up the night
before so I told him he needed to stay home with his Daddy. He really
loves church (especially his Nursery teachers -all through Sacrament I
hear, "Mom I need go to my class now. My teachers is waiting for me. Dis is taking a long time").
Determined to go with us, he clipped a tie to his pajamas and told me, "Mom! I'm ready go church wif you now!"
(Reese is on the opposite end of the spectrum, faking a cough in an attempt to stay home from school/church/whatever. He's the homebodiest homebody I've ever met in my life.)
The past few Sunday's when we get home from church, Hayden has Reese
help him unbutton his dress shirt. It's pretty sweet to watch.
(This video shows the not so sweet moments when a button gets stuck though)
